Isaac came home from school with an entry form for a 5K race/kids mile race. The kids mile race was for kids 3-12, so I signed up Isaac, Caite, and Hayden, put Halle in the jogger and off we went. They lined up the kids in ages, so Isaac was way ahead of me and the little ones. I didn't actually get to see him run, but he said he did it in 8 minutes...I'm not sure about that. Hayden is going to be a runner, he didn't stop the whole time...except to get a drink of water. Caite on the other hand, prefers walking then running for about 10 seconds then back to walking.
Last night Isaac was excited and asking a bunch of questions like: "What time do we need to wake up?" and "How fast do you think I can run a mile?" Hayden was jumping because "I det to run wiff the big kids!" and Caite says "Mom, should I wear my pink or yellow shorts?" and "should I wear 1 pony tail or 2?" Oh she's a crack up!!
We all had a great time. We waited, watched, and cheered on the 5Kers. Then we started. At the end each kid who finished the race got a medal and a back pack. Then there was pizza, fruit and drinks for everyone. Not to mention an award ceremony and door prizes. Caite and Hayden both came home with door prizes. Oh they also got t-shirts when we registered...notice Caite wouldn't wear hers..."It's too big and doesn't have pink in it to match my shorts." Whatever!
The only thing to make the race better was if Dad was there to run with us...but alas he was at the hospital...as always.

That is such a fun idea. Someday Aaron will be able to participate in some of these fun things. Brandon's uncle is a heart surgeon and for years and years nobody ever saw him around. Then he finished up "everything" and started working normal hours and he was able to be at most family functions-with the exception of an emergency of course. See-there is hope! Caite is such a fun girly girl! What a fun memory.
That sounds like a blast! Josh and I cant get over how TALL Isaac is!! He looks like he towers over the other kids. And I LOVE how much of a "girly-girl" that Caite is. hat has to be so fun! And of course Hayden was jazzed about being with the big kids!! What a sweet little family!!
I am such a proud auntie!! They look so cute in their numbers. I don't blame Miss Caite, you have to look good to run good! You go girl!! I'm jealous, we would have loved to run with you!! Tell the kids Aunt Heather said they did awesome!!! Even Halle looked like she was having fun! Tell Isaac I won't ever be able to run with him because I can not run an 8 min. mile!!!
This is too great. I'm so glad that there are activities like this for kids. I'm such a fan of running, I'm always thrilled to see new addicts in the making...
You are awesome. I would have tucked the paper away and slept in! HA! Just kidding. I think its great! I have been looking for something like that for Eva to participate in.
You have been up to some fun times lately! I'm loving all of your updated posts and it was fun to get to see your house. Can you come decorate mine sometime?
That's really cool that they all ran/walked that! James wants to train with me but I'm holding him off until he's 5 because I'm training for a marathon, after that I'll enjoy having an excuss to run slower... until he starts to beat me....
Dang it, why can't they put any pink in the shirts! :)
