Busy just got Busier

I got released from being the Enrichment Leader. Now I'm in the Primary Presidency. I'm excited and ready for the change (and challenge).

The kids are officially done with school. They finished strong. Isaac has all A's and Caite's pre-k evaluations states she is well above average for her age. They have their daddy's brains. Hayden is more than excited to go next year. We are hoping he gets Caite's teacher, Mrs. Thompson. We love her!

Swim team is in full session now. Isaac had a 4 hour stroke clinic yesterday morning. He did well and learned a lot. He has a great back stroke and breath stroke. Caite and Hayden are also doing it. For the little kids who can't swim the length of the pool, they do kick board races. They focus on straight arms, legs and kicks. They're having fun and learning lots. Now that school is out they have swim team at 7:30 am. Which means they have to be to bed early. nice one mom. So my plan this summer is early to bed, early to rise, will make a man healthy, wealthy, and wise. ? Here's hoping.

Bring on Summer!

Garage Sale

I did my very first garage sale today. My neighbors have been talking about having one for a little while now and this weekend was the time. I mostly helped Becky because I didn't have much to sale. It was pretty fun, but a lot of work mostly for Becky because she had so much stuff. I didn't make very much, but then again I didn't have much to sale. However, Becky made a ton. It helps to keep things in the attic for 10 plus years and then purge. She was happy. We now have sunburns ...gotta love the farmer tan. I think I'm good on the garage sale thing for another 10 years.

Oh get this, some lady in a new Escalade tried to steal from us. She had a hand full of dresses and she told Becky "I'll be right back, I owe you $6". She took the stack of clothes to the car and Becky noticed that she had way more than $6 worth of stuff. She she stopped her and said "Miss I need to see what you have because some of the dresses are my neighbors and I need to know how much to give her." Becky took the stack out of the car and she had the few small dresses that she was going to pay for and then she had 4 of Caite's old dresses that she was trying to get away with. So Becky said, "the big girl dresses are more, so you really owe $20." The lady just said, "Oh never mind then, I don't want the big dresses." What kind of crazy person in a fancy car steals from a garage sale? That made me mad.

The other funny part was all the Mexicans who came out. They pretend not to understand English and the prices and just offer you basically nothing for everything. That turned pretty quick when I started speaking their language and not playing their game. Some of them were nice, others annoying, some just made me mad. I don't barter.

The Week

Isaac came in first place out of the all 2nd grade boys in his Cross Country race. I'm telling you...he has skills! He actually got the same time as the 1st place 5th grader.Caite got a new pair of shoes and hasn't taken them off all week.

Hayden is still talking about his birthday party and wonders why we aren't having another one soon.Halle learned how to climb the boys ladder to the bunk beds and keeps getting stuck.
I'm trying to scrapbook all week...trying being the key word. My kitchen table has looked like this all week.
Aaron worked 102 hours in 7 days (not counting travel time).

Pig Tails

Halle's hair is just barely long enough to put pig tails in. The best part is that she will leave them in, including the bows. Cute stuff!

Little Miracles

We woke up Saturday with light rain sprinkles. Hayden was sad, but I told him we can still have everyone come for cake and ice cream. It sprinkled right up to about 30 minutes before the party started. For the 2 hours during the party the clouds parted and the sun shined through. The party was saved! Hayden couldn't have been more excited! It didn't take long for the kids to be covered in mud from the soggy ground. The slip and slid was a hit and they also loved the wild sprinkler hose (I didn't get pictures of that). They had a good time and Hayden got to have his "Wet and Wild" party. Success.

Still Raining!

GO AWAY RAIN!!! We have had 3 weeks of rain. Really, enough all ready! For Hayden's birthday party we thought it would be fun to have a "Wet and Wild" party and do all kinds of water games (slip and slide, water balloons, sprinklers). We couldn't have it last week due to rain, so I watched the weather for this week and earlier in the week the forecast said Saturday would be clear. So I hurried and got the invitations out and today the forecast says there is a 50% chance of rain on Saturday. So there may or may not be a party. One thing is for sure, we will be wet.

You should see our grass. It's tall, really tall. We haven't been able to cut it for 3 weeks because it's way to wet and soggy. It's going to take quite a few days of sun for it to dry up enough to cut. So in the mean time, we have a jungle, especially on the side of our house...there are places where the grass/weeds (it leads out to the trees so it's not entirely grass) are about a foot high.

2 for 1

At our house today we got to celebrate 2 special days. Happy Mother's Day to Me and Happy Birthday to Hayden. It was a pretty normal Sunday. Aaron worked last night, but made it home in time to eat breakfast with us before we left and he went to bed. At Church Hayden was determined to let everyone know it was his birthday, it was quite comical to hear him tell everyone we talked to. We had a yummy dinner of homemade Cafe Rio...one of my favorites!

So to honor Hayden on his 4th birthday here are 4 things I love about him.

1. He still loves giving me kisses. He randomly comes up to me during the day and says "Kissies" and plants one on me.
2. He is my biggest helper around the house.
3. He says the cutest prayers.
4. He make me laugh with all his funny comments.

We love you Hayden and happy you are part of our family!

The Week

The rain finally stopped and we didn't float away. Today it's SUNNY! I'm happy.
This week is Teacher Appreciation week at school. My kids have been blessed with wonderful teachers. We love them. They have high expectation for their kids and also let be creative in their thinking (especially with Isaac in Math...he loves it). So in honor of our wonderful teachers we made these chocolate covered strawberry roses. YUMMY!
Today driving to school Caite must have seen a convertible. She said, "Mom, those cars without lids aren't very good cars, because when it rains they will get wet." True that! So keep your "lids" on your cars and you won't get wet.
Tuesday was my Birthday. Nothing exciting was planned (Aaron had to work late), but it was a good day. I had a few friends stop by with flowers and cards, phone calls came in from family members (even from Mom and Dad on their mission!). Aaron was able to leave the hospital a little bit early to pick up a late Indian dinner for us. We put the kids to bed and had a peaceful delicious dinner. Indian Butter Chicken is one of my favorite foods!! Peaceful, what else could I ask for. He also surprised me with a surger. Are you serious? I couldn't believe it. So now I have some serious learning (I have no clue how to use it) and sewing to do!!
There you have it our week in a nutshell. Oh, and if you are wondering how I'm doing with watching the baby...It's going well, no complaints, he's a cute and good baby. But it's NICE to give him back at 4:30.

Rain

I don't like it. At all. I hear so many people talk about rain, how they love it, how they love the smell of it, and how refreshing it is, how they love to curl up in a blanket and read. NOT me. It makes me mad. The rain in Arkansas does not smell good, in fact it kind of stinks. It's not refreshing like it is in Utah. It's hot and muggy. I have 4 kids...I can't just sit and read (and keep my sanity). I hate being cooped up in the house with 4 kids... ALL day. They are just as tired of it as I am. So now they fight. And I loose my patience. It has rained everyday for a week. And the forecast says it will continue everyday this next week. LOVELY!! The flowers I planted the week before last are drowning quickly. Hopefully they recover. If I don't post anything over the next few days you will know we have floated away because of the yucky rain.

Hayden makes me laugh

The book fair has been going on at the kids school. Isaac was excited to buy 2 books in the series of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid". He showed them to Hayden and Caite and told them how many pages he had already read. Then next morning we were walking in the school to drop Caite off and Hayden saw a sign advertising the book fair. On it was one of the books Isaac just bought. He quickly pointed it out and said "Hey, Isaac has this book...Wimpy Kid has Diarrhea!" I must admit I could not contain myself and neither could a teacher walking past. We laughed pretty hard. I told Hayden how to say the book title correctly and he still can't get it right...now it is "Diarrhea of the Wimpy Kid". Oh he makes me laugh!!
