It was about this time last year when Aaron and I said "enough of the TV". We got tired of the kids fighting over what show they wanted to watch, so we told the them we wouldn't be turning on the TV except for 1 movie they could choose after dinner. That rule was the best thing we did as parents. However, it only lasted until Christmas time. It's true...I caved when Christmas Break came and the weather was too cold to be outside.
We have recommitted ourselves again. We are only on day 4 but we have had no complaints or asking about the TV. It's nice. The kids would rather be outside with friends. And the times they are inside, they have played nicely with each other. I love not having the extra noise...we have enough of that with 4 kids. It's a good thing. Aaron and I will still turn on the news after the kids are in bed, just so we aren't completely out of touch with what's going on around us.

Hurray for you two! We find ourselves listening to music a lot which is a wonderful change.
Shortly after Dax was born, we decided we don't want him to watch any tv until he's at least 2... which means we can't watch it ourselves until after he's in bed for the night!
It's nice, the extra time we seem to find together, without the tv. :)
TOTALLY AGREE!! My kids watch next to no t.v! I hate it! I HATE boy's cartoons! SO LAME!! I am so happy it is warm enough to be outside all day!
With summer it is so much easier to do, I agree. I couldn't be as diligent in the winter, I'm afraid. Good job! Thanks for the info. on swimming. I am hoping we could just move to the Caribbean for a couple of years...that will do the trick!
Good for you!!! I'm a total TV junky, although I try not to let the kids watch to much of it.
{I'm not yet ready to fire my babysitter... I like to take showers by myself}
Good job Issac on the race!!
We have put all of the "gaming systems" away for the summer...it's way too nice out to be driving Mario around in his kart!
We really don't have time for TV anymore either...we're either at a ball game, swim meet, or soccer game. I don't need to watch any again until January anyway, when "Lost" comes back!
